HOT SPOT // NOMI:

HOUR Detroit Magazine

An acronym for Northville, Michigan, it departs from the town's quaint image with its contemporary look and energetic atmosphere. The high-ceilinged room has upholstered banquetts under black-glass chandeliers on one wall and a wine room on the other that houses its impressive list. The marble-topped bar centers the room and is a focal point, along with the sheer red floor-to-ceiling curtains that shield the banquettes. The menu, written by chef Jason Jones, is a blend of American and Asian influences and includes appetizers such as carpaccio with goat cheese and poached pears; flash-fried shrimp on skewers; and Parmesan-dusted calamari. Entrees, listed as small plates, are meant for one. Notable dishes include Chianti-braised lamb shanks, and salmon with mango/peach salsa. Music, live and recorded, is part of the scene. L & D Mon.-Sat. 133 W. Main St., Northville; 248-449-3200. - Molly Abraham
